Dave has over thirty years experience within the industry; more than seven of these have been as a leading engineer for a large international topside and subsea control system supplier. Numerous clients over the years have included; EnQuest, Talisman Energy Inc, Shell Uk, Apache, GDF Suez, and Technip.

SDS (EA) Ltd can provide extensive knowledge relating to project documentation including, but not limited to; hydraulic analysis, accumulation calculations, reliability and availability studies, functional design specifications, cathodic calculations, welding specifications, painting specifications, weight data & centre of gravity calculations, instrument specifications, and fabrication drawings.

For onsite witnessing activities there is no better solution than having an experienced engineer reviewing the building and testing of equipment. In the past this has highlighted areas of concern where details may have been missed due to the client or end using not having a fulltime presence at the manufacturers facility.

Familiarisation with sub-components is paramount when designing a system to meet clients’ requirements for expected operational performance. As well as the technical aspect of a project, consideration should always be given to the reality of real world environments. The practicalities of component accessibility as well as the method of installation can affect the equipment throughout its operational life. This should not be overlooked whether it is a stand alone topside control panel, or a subsea installation requiring diver or ROV intervention.
